High School Senior Portraits
Our new "Rack Cards" for the Class of 2010 have arrived, and boy am I excited about them! They really turned out awesome!
What I'm even more excited about is the upcoming high school senior season, which will kick off in June. What makes this year even more special, is that my oldest son will be a senior in the fall, and I have the privilege of photographing him this summer. I believe that having a son that's 17 years old helps me to connect even that much more with all of the high school seniors I photograph.
I can't forget to give props out to some of the location establishments, for allowing me to showcase these rack cards in their restaurants, shops, etc.
So, if you're a member of the Class of 2010, you should soon start thinking about reserving your high school senior session. Appointments will book up fast, as they typically do.

Spring Grove School Report
The April/May edition of the Spring Grove School Report just came out, and we're very pleased with our new ad for High School Senior Portraits. Class of 2010 ... Wow! I can't believe it's that time already! We're really looking forward to this year's senior class.
We're pleased to announce that we are still offering the "free sitting fee" option from last year. Also, we've added a new sitting session --- one that has an urban feel to it --- photography right here in the streets of Spring Grove!

Fashion + Wedding + Photography
Whoa! What an informative photography seminar! On Monday, I attended a professional photography seminar held in Baltimore. We talked "business", and we talked "processing". But for me, the most enjoyable part was getting outside with the rest of the group and photographing a model bride and groom in different locations around the hotel, and around Camden Yards. I'm looking forward to taking some of what I picked up during the day and applying it to my wedding photography.
The focus of the day was posing, and not just any type of posing. This was about fashion posing. And in some cases, sexy-fashion posing. It was about thinking out of the box. Opening your creative minds. Creating something special.
Here are a few photos I snapped during the day ...

Did you ever see so much equipment? :-)

300 in Wii Bowling !!!!
Unbelievable evening! We just had a member of our family bowl a perfect game in Wii Bowling ... that's right -- a 300! The very talented bowler? My 6-year-old daughter! Yep! Our little girl, still in Kindergarten, bowled a perfect score! She was really feeling the pressure as she had 8 ... 9 ... 10 ... and then 11 strikes. She lined up the final ball, and BAM! A 12th STRIKE! Crazy Unbelievable!

My Point and Shoot of choice
Over the past few years, I have collected quite a few professional camera bodies, lenses, and flash units. But sometimes, you just want a more portable camera to take along with you for some candid shots of family and friends at a picnic, party, or other get-together -- A camera that's the perfect size to put in your pocket or purse. I've been kicking the idea around for quite some time about buying such a camera. Well, the time has come. Today, I made the final "click" on the BUY button on my PC, and I purchased my first "Point and Shoot" camera. My pocket camera of choice? The Canon G10.
Why the Canon G10? Well, of course, I wanted something portable. At less than 2" thick, and weighing only 12 ounces, it's a great size. Plus, it has a hand grip, that will make it easier to hold. Next, I wanted a camera to capture images with as many megapixels as possible. For the G10, it's 14.7. I also wanted a camera that offers other features as well, including the ability to shoot in RAW format, to have a hot shoe, to have manual controls so I can adjust as necessary, and to have the ability to capture video. Check, check, check, and check. And with a name like Canon, it's got to be good! (wait, isn't that the Smucker's slogan?)
Happy shooting!

Camera for "Digital Nomads"
I came across this article today that provides a review of the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1. It's a camera for Digital Nomads. In other words, it's size is convenience, it's rugged, it's
waterproof, and it's relatively low cost, all without sacrificing too much on image quality.
So, if you're in the market for a camera that meets those needs, check it out!
(I wonder if it comes it other colors besides orange ... not sure if that would be my first choice!) :-)

Earth Day Photo
In the spirit of Earth Day, and the photo project "Earth Mosaic", here is the photo that I took today for submission. As you can see, it's a photo of an old, broken down barn, that appears hasn't been used in quite a few years. The dark, ominous clouds approaching gives the photo a feeling of darkness, or old memories of days gone by.
I call this photo, "Better Days".
